San Antonio Zoo - March 2015
Seeing all sorts of exotic creatures at the San Antonio Zoo gave opportunities to not only capture some excellent photos but to take some videos as well.
The Critters
During the spring, the Butterfly Exhibit was unveiled, which allowed people to walk into a small enclosure with hundreds of different butterflies who quickly became accustomed to our presence. The Lorikeet Landing also allowed us to get up close and personal with these loud birds, who will gladly perch on your head if there's nectar in your hands.
Other animals did their own thing; flamingos fed each other, cassowaries patrolled, bears lazed about, tigers quarreled, a prairie dog locked eyes with my brother, squirrel monkeys posed, rhinos sauntered, Komodo dragons waited, and the tortoise munched:
I also took several videos throughout the trip and compiled them into one video, which you'll see how comfortable the butterflies were with people, some clever monkeys copying us, some screeching lorikeets, and hysterical kookaburras:
The Family
Bonus photo; I took a ride on the zoo’s mini train and had a shooting battle against my dad standing the sidelines, and this is the result:
I used the compact OLYMPUS SZ-10 to photograph the butterflies and record several videos, and the OLYMPUS E-500 DSLR was used to capture everything else.
