Space Shuttle Enterprise - June 2012
During my visit to NY in 2012, I was able to witness the final transportation of the Space Shuttle Enterprise. As the day grew long and the shuttle took its time to pass into view, the clouds began to whip up a little storm. While our parade wasn't rained on, thankfully, the light effects called for additional photos.
The Enterprise
When the space shuttle finally arrived, it was guarded by so many boats and helicopters. This is when I realized how small the spaceship was, especially compared to the cruise ship it passed by. I also found it ridiculous that a billion-dollar vehicle was merely sitting on a barge platform seemingly only a few feet above the water:
The Chica
Before the shuttle and storm rolled in, I took some candid photos of our neighbor, whom we’d call Chica, against the backdrop of the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge:
With the use of my OLYMPUS SZ-10, I took some surprising photos with this little compact camera, which had a decent optical zoom to capture the tiny space shuttle.
