Enchanted Rock - February 2015
Deep in the plains of Texas, there is a large protrusion that seemingly juts out from the earth. Like its name implies, the Enchanted Rock is a massive rock formation that’s deceptively larger than it appears.
The View
After what felt like a grueling 30 minute hike to reach the peak, the summit gave view to the vast open horizon of Texas and other “nearby” rock formations:
The Plants
Since this stone didn’t roll, all sorts of moss, succulents, and lichen gathered around the tiny pools of collected rainfall:
The Critter
Even this little butterfly tried to blend in with the arid Texan flora:
The Family
My mother and brother stood against the backdrop of the unending landscape, on a giant rock stuck in the middle of Texas. For reference on its size, this last photo appeared to be no more than 8ft tall when I planned to hop down from it, thankfully my brother stopped me from destroying my ankles:
The macro shots were taken with my NOKIA LUMIA 520 smartphone, while the OLYMPUS E-500 DSLR captured some gorgeous landscapes. This last photo was taken by my mother’s smartphone.
